Class X- Empathy & Inclusion Session: “Walk In My Shoes”

An interactive session was conducted to help students understand empathy, accessibility, & inclusion by exploring how everyday environments may feel for individuals with visual impairments. Students participated in a "Blindfold Orientation & Mobility Challenge" where they navigated classrooms, terrace, corridors, & stairs with peer support and guidance.

Small obstacles & unexpected situations were introduced during the activity to help students experience feelings of uncertainty, dependence, and the importance of communication and support.

Key Learnings:

  • Blindfold walking & guided mobility activity
  • Peer support, teamwork, & trust-building
  • Understanding environmental & accessibility barriers
  • Reflection-based discussion on inclusion & kindness
  • Sharing feelings, observations, & learning experiences

Many students shared that they felt nervous, dependent, or unsure while navigating spaces without vision, while others expressed how guidance & reassurance helped them feel safe. Through meaningful discussions & reflection, students explored how accessible & supportive environments can help everyone participate equally.

The session encouraged empathy, respectful behaviour, emotional understanding, and awareness about creating safe and inclusive environments for everyone.
